Description
Neurotrophic Keratitis – Rare or Just Overlooked?
Presented by Dr. Kimberly Schauland, OD
While traditionally considered rare, increasing awareness and advances in diagnostic technology suggest neurotrophic keratitis (NK) may be underdiagnosed, particularly in its early stages. We’ll review the anatomy and physiology of corneal innervation, explore the pathophysiology and risk factors associated with NK, and discuss current approaches to diagnosis and management across all disease stages, with a special emphasis on recognizing and treating early-stage disease before significant corneal damage occurs.
Attendance is offered virtually or in person for optometrists, and virtually only for staff. Please contact Allyson Tebon with any questions at Allyson.tebon@baycareclinic.com
This course has been submitted for 1 hour of CE credit for IJCAHPO certified staff, WI ODs, and MI ODs.
